The Formal Closet is a free service and is designed to bring women together to find fantastic wardrobes worn only once, a few times, and in some cases, never worn at all.

This idea was first imagined when my own 4 teenage daughters needed a different dress for every dance in High School, and they would not be caught dead wearing the same dress again.  With this in mind, I began questioning other women from several roles: brides, mothers, wives, teens, and the list goes on.

The two common themes are:

1. They need a nice dress or other attire but can not afford to buy a new attire for every occasion at retail prices
2. They have expensive clothing they no longer wear and they are collecting dust in their closet.

We listened to women of all ages and this is what we heard:

• The Formal Closet is free? This will save me money! On ebay, there are insert and selling fees. This adds up over a six month period! 
• My daughter has 4 dances this year and every new dress is at $100+. The Formal Closet is a GREAT concept!
• My wedding dress is well over $1000 and collecting dust. The Formal Closet will allow me to sell this dress at no cost...thank you all at the Formal Closet!
• I go to holiday parties every year and I do not want to wear the same dress I wore last year, or the year before.  I only wear these dresses once or twice at most.
• I have lost weight and I have several wardrobes that are like new that are sitting in my closet.
• I have a closet full of shoes...expensive shoes! Some at $100 a pair, someone else somewhere should want them.

Now, is the chance to shop within miles of your home to avoid shipping costs, or to shop across the country. You will find like-new or new items sold directly from people at a fraction of department store prices.
